Tiger Woods

Eldrick Tont "Tiger" Woods (born December 30, 1975) is an American professional golfer whose achievements to date rank him among the most successful golfers of all time. Formerly the World No. 1, he is the highest-paid professional athlete in the world, having earned an estimated US$90.5 million from winnings and endorsements in 2010.

Woods has won 14 professional major golf championships, the second highest of any male player (Jack Nicklaus leads with 18), and 71 PGA Tour events, third all time behind Sam Snead and Nicklaus. He has more career major wins and career PGA Tour wins than any other active golfer. He is the youngest player to achieve the career Grand Slam, and the youngest and fastest to win 50 tournaments on tour. Additionally, Woods is only the second golfer, after Jack Nicklaus, to have achieved a career Grand Slam three times. Woods has won 16 World Golf Championships, and won at least one of those events in each of the first 11 years after they began in 1999.

Woods held the number one position in the world rankings for the most consecutive weeks and for the greatest total number of weeks. He has been awarded PGA Player of the Year a record ten times, the Byron Nelson Award for lowest adjusted scoring average a record eight times, and has the record of leading the money list in nine different seasons.

On December 11, 2009, Woods announced he would take an indefinite leave from professional golf to focus on his marriage after he admitted infidelity. His multiple infidelities were revealed by over a dozen women, through many worldwide media sources. Woods returned to competition on April 8, 2010 for the 2010 Masters, after a break lasting 20 weeks.

In July 2010, Forbes announced Woods as the richest sportsman in the world, earning a reported $105m according to them and $90.5m according to Sports Illustrated.

On October 31, 2010, Woods lost the world number one ranking to Lee Westwood. As of mid-June 2011, Woods is ranked #17 in the world.[14] This is his lowest rank since early 1997, more than 14 years ago. Since mid November 2009, shortly before the infidelity scandals began breaking in the media, Woods has been winless worldwide for 19 months, the longest streak without a title of his professional career.

The Woods Twitter account actually was launched in June, the name - "TigerWoods" - reserved about a year before that. The previous three tweets were to announce a new twitter page, website design and Facebook page.

The first tweet from Woods came at 11:08 a.m. Woods had just over 90,000 followers then, and within an hour, he already had added some 10,000 more.

Tiger Woods marked last Thanksgiving by fighting with his then-wife Elin Nordegren and crashing his car into a tree.

After that, it comes out the news of Tiger Woods sex scandal: there are 15 mistresses as Elin continues to fume.

Then, because of Tiger woods scandal, Elin Nordegren Woods was no longer wearing her wedding band and diamond engagement ring. Finally, Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren have officially finalized their divorce.

After several months’ step away from golf, he came back in the year of 2010. But there was no such drama this year. The golf icon spent the holiday with his two children, Sam and Charlie, as well as his mother, Kultida.

“Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving. I just finished a pretty tough cardio session this morning because of all the apple and pumpkin pie,” tweeted Woods on Friday morning.

It’s likely Woods, whose 2010 was dominated by endless speculation about his serial cheating, would be “thankful” for the coming year to be focused again on his golf career and his golf handicap.

Meanwhile, as Gossip Cop reported earlier, three of Woods’ former mistresses will be holding an “anniversary party” of sorts next week to commemorate the scandal in which they all played a role.

Some people said he is not the World No. 1 anymore, and others hold the idea that Tigers Wood is doing well this tournament. His golfing skills are also back!

Last week, Woods changed his equipment. Any time Tiger Woods makes an equipment change, gearheads around the world race to their computers and slam message boards and chat sites with opinions. No one's bag is scrutinized more closely than Tiger's. But this time, his change is huge not only because of what he did, but also when he did it.

The world's No. 1 player swapped out the Titleist putter he'd used to win 13 of his 14 major championships in favor of a Nike Method 001 — the week of the British Open!

This meant that not only were die-hard equipment people following the story, but golf writers from places like Bloomberg, The Orlando Sentinel and The Guardian were discussing it too.

Several scribes who couldn't tell a Nike swoosh from a Titleist T approached me in the Media Center at St. Andrews and asked questions like this: "So, ah ... what's the deal with this tiger woods putter. It's new, right?"

Golf equipment is never a story at a tournament — until it becomes a story, a tiger woods’ story.
